Soul GP

I personaly know him as Sergio since a few years ago, but I already know him even earlier as Soul GP because his fame is great. After a period of time no releasing anything new, this big boss of the music comes back.

This photo is a bit old, but two years (since I did it) haven´t change him anyway.
He is nowadays one of the most promising composers of the Basque Country and I´ve got the proud of interviewing him.

He is now working hard in a new concept of music which is going to mix his chill out and his voice singing poetry of his very own authority. This will have the name of ``End of Love´´ and because of that, I´m going to speak with him about feelings.

-First of all Soul, Why did you begin in the world of Music?

Soul GP: Well, I have to say that as many others, my life was very influenced by rap music, so was that conection with the music, that I thought to make my own music because I was a bit tired of using the same bases as many other beginners usually did.

-How could you describe your first steps?

Soul GP: It was easy. I saved a lot of money for some time. I bought some books about music and the scales, I downloaded some very basic programmes for composing music bases, and the rest of the story is a maremagnum of long hours sweating for the right rhythm, sleepless nights in front of the computer and a lot of effort.

- Now, Do you believe in Love? Does it exist or it is just an invention of the society?

Soul GP: (Laughs) Interesting question for a person who has just splitted up with his girlfriend, she did indeed. Well, I´m now very scephtic. If you asked me when I was with her this wasn´t going to be a very short answer, but know I can only say that love is a chemical process. There´s no reason to fall in love the inner chemistry of our bodies (he sighs). The important thing is enjoying the moment. Carpe diem.

- There are many artists lately that express theirselves in many ways. Do you think that the feelings can inspire you?

Soul GP: Good question. I have to conclude that over all, the most inspirating ones are the baddest. The lonelyness can bring you a lot of pain, but it also means a lot of time to think about things that never crossed your mind when you are with someone.

-Good Answer, Finally and I don´t want to interrupt your work even more (he gave me 5 minutes), Do you think that the artist is born or it is done?

Soul GP: It is born, but anyway you must have the means to exploit your potential. Sooner or later, you find what you have to do and how to do it, no matter what´s your potential, to sing, to play the piano or to build up boats inside a bottle.

Thank you very much and Good Luck with your project

'WUARZ'

Diego Zárraga is my friend from Bilbao, he loves photography and he spends most of his free-time making pictures. Diego’s nickname is Wuarz and he signs his pictures with his nickname, as everyone knows him in Bilbao. He makes wonderful pictures and people who know him ask him for nice pictures or make him questions about photography.  As I have said before he loves photography, so I have made him an interview.
  1. Hello Diego, how did you start with photography?
Hello Maitane, I have always liked photography and since I was fourteen I asked for a nice camera to my father. The answer was absolutely no, what made him start making photos with a bad camera, but when he turned seventeen, in Christmas; his dad gave him a nice camera, the one that he liked.
Photography fascinates me and what I do is to try to connect with people through my pictures, I like to transmit people what do pictures transmit me.

  1. Can you show us your three best pictures, please?
    A.
This picture is in the ‘Puerto Deportivo’ of ‘Las Arenas’, Basque Country. This place is so special for me because I have spent there most of my days with my friends, and also I love coming here to take pictures.

    B. This picture is a drop of water falling down, it makes me thing about the life, this pictures represents me the life, because the time a drop spends to fall down is like the time we spend on our life, it seems to be so long but it is an insignificantly moment, it goes faster than it comes.

C.Those two pictures are the same one, but the one that modified tries to be Avatar, but it is me, these are some little things you can do with Photoshop.

  2. Which is your photography style?
I am very impulsive, this means that I don’t have a specific style, I make one picture when I want and however I want to do it. I don’t prefer to take a picture of a person or of an animal, just what I like I capture it.
  3. Which kind of jobs/ works have you made?
I have worked for some friends who have asked me for some pictures for different reasons and I have also been working for a family to a girl’s baptism. But I pre
fer to work for myself doing the pictures I like; in step of the ones that my boss tells me to do.
  4. Which computer programme do you use?

The one that I like the most is Photoshop CS5 but I also use Photoscape for little things.
  5. A good photographer born or he makes himself being good?
I think both are correct, I mean a nice photographer needs to be born good at it but it also needs to work on it.
  6. To finish with the interview, do you think you will be a professional photographer?

As a hobby yes, but no as a professional, I love photography but I want to make me other things with my life, and photography could always be a nice hobby.

Singing in the rain? No, studing the whole day.

This weekend has been a very long one. I've been studying for hours because we have this next week three exams, the three first exams of the year.
I would prefer that they would be another week, because exactly this sunday coincid to the Oinez, a day that's dedicated to the euskera (a language of the Vasque Country, Navarra, and some villages of the south of France). This day is plenty of activities and concerts, so it has been a little bit frustrating to stay at home in front of some papers and their boring words (they're not woring in themselves, but it's not really funny when you know that you could be in that right moment dancing and singing with your friends).
Stress, stress, stress.. a time-table to respect, some books to read and study, and concentration. I use to need some relaxing music when I've got so much exams, for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az7kDXa7lLk
This is not the best song in the world, I know, but it makes me feel better when I starts thinking that I can't study all the subjects. Then, I begin again to study more relaxed.

Have you ever felt stressed?

Have you ever think about how relaxing is to lie down in the middle of nothing, doing just anything with none? Don’t you think it is very relaxing? There is no stress in this situation, but now lets change the situation:
You are in the library with a lot of students next to you, discussing who has to study more, when do you have the exam and what do you have to study for it.
When someone tells you, ‘I have studied until unit 5’, and you only have done it until unit 2….this is the moment when you feel the stress of the situation.
When you have an exam tomorrow and you haven’t studied it yet, when you don’t know how to start studying something, because you understand nothing…
But the worst moment is one minute before the exam…when you feel that you are forgetting everything you have been studying for hours just because of the nervous.
When you feel all what you have done was for nothing, but after the exam a huge peace runs around me.
I hope all the exams we do the next weeks we will pass them and enjoy the time after doing them.
Sorry, but I have to study…as always!
This song helps me relaxing in this moments:

Stress is the Feeling

photography by : José Daniel Rodriguez

One of the most common feelings or states of mind in this caotically changing and competitive world we live in, is the Stress.
And applying this concept to our blog, we are going to talk about what we feel in this moments of our career, when we are approaching the first week of exams, which will surely influence the development of our whole future.
The IMP students, (I have the pride to be one of them), have not only two, but three exams. And as I said above, If we fail one subject, we are out of the international program.
So these days are very stressing. I want to be the best in this career, so no sacrifice is enough for me.
This weekend, I´m not returning to Bilbao although we have a very important meeting of friends on Saturday evening, because on Monday, I will be doing what I consider to be the most difficult exam of the three I have now.
12 unit of the History syllabus.
When I finally close my eyes at night, hoping to sleep well, the doubts that I have begin to come to my mind. Twenty minutes later, I´m awake, with the book on my hands, looking for the answer to my great many questions.
Now I´ve got such a whole things to do apart from updating this groupal blog, that I will end showing you a precious song and video from one of my favourite groups of music, Röyksopp

The best thing I've ever felt.

Today I'm going to explain the best feeling I've ever felt. This summer I went to a reggae festival with five friends for 9 days. Rototom Sunsplash reggae festival is a collective that is devoted to combining music with its cultural contents, by organising live shows that often involve a strong social commitment. It was in 1991 when this collective began preparing concerts. This year it has been the 17th edition of this festival.

The Rototom Sunsplash of 2010 has got more than 100.000 persons together. Musical groups from all over the wolrd have assisted to this edition, and they where of different kinds of music: reggae, dancehall, ska, dubs, hip hop..

But Rototom is not only music, there are also musical and cultural activities on offer to the public: debates, the Reggae University, an open-air market, magicogioco (games for children), films, photo exhibition, art projects, etc.

Here you are a resume of the first weekend in Rototom 2010. As you can see, the heat was stifling in Benicassim. The eight days of Rototom coincided with the hottest days of all the summer. The sun was hot since we woke up to the sunset, and we really got a suntan.
I remember that I absolutely enjoy these days. I saw a lot of famous groups, for example, Alborosie, who has made a song dedicated to Rototom Sunsplash: Free Rototom.

It was curious too that there were people of all ages: activities for old people, for families, for children.. And I think this festival is positive for the families, as you can see in this photo, because Rototom transmit a feeling of peace unforgettable.

Well, I think here you are a lot of information of the Rototom, and I invite you to Feel It next summer.

The Best feeling I´ve ever felt

In the middle of the sea, approaching the coast of Mallorca on my father´s boat. 80 knots of pure power, and the wind furiously blowing in my face. A vast horizon of blue waves crashing and sea foam splashing. It was as if the whole Mediterranean sea was playing with me.
It was the last day of a wonderful holidays with who was then my girlfriend. We took the boat in the morning, to be on time at the beach to do some diving and sunbathing.

The world seemed to smile at me. The boat jumped, and I heard her cryings of laughter and joy in the bow of the boat, as her body flied a bit over the sunlounger. I was looking at what all I´ve ever wanted in my life: Love and Someone who was happy to be with me.

I set course to a very famous but tiny beach and we anchored there the boat. We spent the morning swimming in the sea and enjoying the paradise of the islands.

I keep in mind that moment of grace, and is sometimes what reminds me that life worths to be lived.

The best thing I've never Feel

It was Saturday morning, about I woke up two hours before but I was really nervous because it had been snowing all the night. It was sunny, no cloud in the sky, it wasn’t so cold I was wearing my favourite pants with my favourite ski jacket, but the best thing was that the ski resort was opened, so I could absolutely go snowboarding.  I do it every winter weekend in Panticosa, but this one was special not because something special happened, no….it was special just because it had been snowing all the night and the snow was awesome….
I love when there is this kind of snow because you can hear how the snow is compacting behind you. This sound and how do you feel it is the best sensation someone that loves snow can have. I feel a huge peace around me and it is greater when I am listening to music going down the hill.
This sensation is just awesome, I like it and I enjoy it, because I enjoy going snowboarding and of course I enjoy it better when it has just snowed the night before.
If you go down the hill without any music you could hear the silent of the nature and the peace it transmit me, it makes me feel relaxing, I feel a huge peace in my interior, all me feels better when I go down the hill, maybe it is because is the thing I like the most to do in the world or maybe because all those facts together make the best situation I would like to be in. For any reason I have never had a better feeling.

There, in the mountains..

There, in the mountains, where the air is pure and the time pass quickly.

I think my favourite place to relax and to feel freedom are the Pyrenees. They are fairly near to Pamplona (one hour and a half by car) and when you are there you feel like if the humanity would have dissapeared. I love these mountains since I was a baby, because my mother's family is from a village there (specifically, the highest in Navarra, with 1100 meters).
When we go there, we love to take photos, because the nature is spectacular and it offers a great number of opportunities to the cameras. Different lights, different angles, different highs.. and everything as they're naturally. You can breath peace with each breath of fresh air and that can be reflect in your photos if you want to.
I would like to be in the Pyrenees now, just to take a second to feel myself peacefull. To feel that I'm a litte piece of the puzzle of the world and relax. Relax as I did when I was a little girl, when everything was to live the moment.
I hope you like this photo, and I recommend you to go.
If you are intrested abot it, just take a look to this page. http://www.pyreneesguide.com/
